The Butlerian Jihad

This afternoon I finished the fourth book by the collaboration of Brian Herbert and Kevin J. Anderson, "The Butlerian Jihad". I've quite enjoyed these prequels to Dune so far, this novel was a little flat in the middle but overall a good weekend read. The fact that it's set in the Dune universe is what pulls the story together, if not for this then I think it would have left me wanting. I liked the introduction of characters like Vorian Atreides and Xavier Harkonnen, and the difference between their characters and that of their descendants. The title is a bit of a misnomer, ninety percent of story is the lead up to the Jihad rather than the actual Jihad itself, that is saved for the just released tome, "The Machine Crusade". In summary, a worthy 6/10.
