The man in black

I picked up The Man Comes Around by Johnny Cash. It is very good. I wasn't sure if I could like like his cover of "Hurt" (I'm also a big NIN fan) but it turns out I can.

I think I like both versions to be honest.

is "backwards N" a unicode character yet?

NIƢ NIƶ

Neither of the above work in my browser, but maybe they will in others?

I don't think you're doing the UTF8 encoding correctly. Anyway, you can avoid that by just using numeric HTML escapes (like И).

This works for me in Mozilla 1.3 on Win 2000: NIИ. But I dislike reproducing logos in things I write. Use a name (or an abbreviation), not a logo, in the middle of a sentence -- except possibly for advertising.

WOW!

Wow. I didn't realize that pop covers were going to be an ongoing thing for Johnny Cash.

When Unchained came out, it was very disturbing moment. The local alternative radio station played his cover of Rusted Cage at 6am or so one morning. I heard it, and recognized the voice. Then I recognized the lyrics. Then I remembered I don't listen to Johnny Cash, yet I knew this song. Then I realized it was a cover of a Soundgarden Song. Then I realized that this station never plays Soundgarden.

Then I was really awake. :-)

I can't imagine what he does to Hurt...

He does a damn fine job of it - that's what. Seriously - beg, borrow, or steal it if you can - you might be pleasantly surprised.

Of course if you didn't like the original NIN version then it won't have quite the same effect on you as it did with me so YMMV :-)

Hmm...this song (and album) is available in the Apple Music Store....
