I watched Yojimbo this evening as an escape from the doom and gloom on tv. Directed by Akira Kurosawa in 1961, this is a classic, western-like Japanese film.
It was remade in 1996 as Last Man Standing where Bruce Willis replaces the ronin as a gunslinger. Though it's not anywhere close to the original it has a special place in my heart as it's the first 18 rated film I got to see at the cinema (even though I was only 17 at the time).
