We have recently replaced Mail::Sendmail with MIME::Lite and it turns out there is a performance penalty for doing so.
As we found out to use the MIME::Lite module you need 0.5-1.2 sec depending on how far your harddisk is in a networked environment.
Compare this with 0.2-0.3 sec for Mail::Sendmail.
So what does that Lite mean ?
