Flashlights are very handy things to have when you're on the top floor of a building and the power goes out, particularly when the bathrooms have no emergency lighting.
It wasn't that many years back when you could count on losing 5% of your hard drives whenever the power played boing boing. Life has gotten better, thank goodness.
