Roasted tomato and poblano soup

My friend Kate who was over for dinner tonight has her hands featured in Rick Bayless's "Mexican Kitchen". Her hands are holding the tortillas that occupy the first picture after page 96.

I cooked a roasted tomato and poblano soup, and a masa tortilla filled with black bean empanada type thing that had a chipotle sauce and queso fresco over the top. And it may have been over the top ;-)

I was quite happy with my first venture into cooking using masa dough. Slapping tortillas may be my new favorite pastime.
