Yesterday we had the first of our now regularly scheduled Tech/Social Meetings. We (aprox 15 people) first met up in a meeting room at the Vienna Univeristy (thanks to hanekomu for organising this!)

We had three talks:

  • Peter talking on his Perl wrapper around judy, Bit::Vector::Judy (not on CPAN (yet?))
  • Wili talking on Groovy, which makes Java less painfull.
  • and me re-doing a talk from German Perl Workshop 2006, POEing Perl

After the talks we move on to Stiegl Bier Ambulanz (YAPC::Europe attendees might know this as the location of the last day dinner) for beer, food and chatting. Issues we (or I) talked about where writing code in a BIG factory, while lots of machines wirrl around you (a nice war story told by Wili), details of Korean script, and what to do with the money we raised with YAPC::Europe (expect some announcements on this soon.).

It was a very nice evening. The next TechSocialMeeting is scheduled for 5th November (the first monday of each month). See you there!
