(linux && usb)--

Grr, I just waisted 1.5 hours to get simple automounting of USB storage devices on linux (gentoo) working. I just want to plug some USB-thingy into my laptop and have it mounted somewhere reasonable.

Currently, after plugging in something, it gets mounted to /media/some_cryptic_thing_like_sdb1. Oh, and if I plug in various things (mp3 player, camera, USB stick), they get different names every time. Annoying!

I'm using ivman, which seems to be the best option (beside switching to a Win-like thing like Gnome, which I want to avoid).

But on the plus side, this issue is the only thing left that annoyes me on linux, now that I have wireless and hibernate (to ram and disk) working.

Details?

What did you have to do to finally get it dialed?

exactly :-)

But it's still working subobtimal, especially as I cannot find an indicator where the device has been mounted to.
