If there's one standard module that is universally disliked in the world of Ruby, it has to be GetoptLong. It has some annoying quirks that, well, really annoy me and everyone else.
Anyway, a few of us on IRC decided that we'd had enough and were going to use Perl's Getopt::Long as a model for the new version. Within the source I noticed a test for a peculiar environment variable called "POSIXLY_CORRECT" and seriously wondered how many people actually have this set.
It was then that someone pointed me to this amusing bit.
Do I need to request support for "POSIX_ME_HARDER"? :-P
