Safe!

Ben Goldberg mentioned the Safe.pm module out on clpm as a possible solution to the security issues a reverse RPC server would have.

The only problem is that Safe.pm isn't finalized. Still, it's a good place to start and yet another cool thing I can play with and learn.

Have you looked at Penguin? It's old and probably way stale, but I seem to remember it was trying to solve a similar problem.

Thanks for the info. Sounds very much like what I'm trying to achieve. Looks like it's been 5 years since the author touched it, though. I'm a bit surprised that no one has picked up on it.

I figured someone else must have come up with this idea first - I mean it's just not that complex an idea (implementation is another story).

It looks like PGP has come a ways since '97, so that may help my cause as well. I know squat about PGP, so maybe now is a good time to learn. I also need to take a look at SSL probably.
