BIOS upgrade? I'm scared

Hi, my name is Dan, and I'm a caffeine-aholic. I've been 'clean' for about two days now (if we include sleep time).

I seem to be feeling a little better, so I'll stick to my no-caffeine plan for about a week, if I can pull it off. Not that I know for sure that the two are related, but it can't hurt.

In other news, it looks like my new 40gb drive is gonna want a BIOS upgrade (currently American Megratrends Amibios 1997). So, I go out to the Tyan site and download the latest BIOS. However, I've never upgraded a BIOS before and, quite frankly, the thought of it scares me. The website says something about learning how to "flash" my BIOS and also that I should check all the jumper configurations.

Like I have a clue. I ain't no hardware guy. I mean, I can install a video card or a CD-ROM with the best of 'em, but this is a little more involved I think. Ah, well. I've already backed up all the important stuff. I just hope I don't fry the motherboard or somethin.

Caffeine is bad for RSI, in my experience.

Hmmm...that's interesting.

I noticed the part about tingling in the hands. I get that, but only when I go jogging, and not very badly. Coincidence?

Tingling is strange. I say go to the doctor. Could be tendonitis, could be anything.
Your hands are too important to risk fucking up in any way.
