Normally I just do an "xhost +" so I can get gvim, etc to display back on my machine. Normally, that's not a problem. In fact, in my 6 odd years of programming, it's NEVER been a problem.
Until today. Well, ok. I started getting broadcast messages a couple of days ago (looks like they were from our Phoenix office actually). Annoying, but no big deal. Just click "ok" and they go away. There weren't too many.
Today, however, someone tried to start some kind of gui admintool on my machine. I killed it - 3 or 4 times. Not long after that my machine froze - all I had was mouse control and nothing else. I figure some mother-fucker decided to take control of my desktop.
Nothing left to do at that point except the good 'ol "Stop-A". Sync, fsck - and we're back to normal.
From now on I'll have to specify the host when I do "xhost+". Sigh...
