I was chatting a bit with one of those evil Python programmers, and he happened to mention a language called Icon, which I hadn't heard of before. I guess Icon has been around for quite a while and is still maintained (latest release was April, 2003).

It actually looks kinda neat. Sorta like Pascal meets Python meets Ruby.

Some of my code is in fact still in the distribution, and I'm listed as a contributor.

I like a lot of things about Icon, except that when I last looked at it, it was the opposite of Perl with respect to "gluing in" to the environment.

Hmmm.. Icon my compiler class was in Icon. The only time I'd ever have to use that language.
