Last year I bought a low-end Duron laptop. For what I use it for (programming, presentations) it does the job and I'm glad I didn't buy a more expensive laptop.
The only problem I have with it is that it doesn't always seem to vent the heat well. The heat vent is on the left side and I can feel that the air flow is ok, but some of that heat bleeds UP into the left side of the keyboard. Consequently, it actually starts to become uncomfortable to type on the asdf side of the keyboard.
I *think* this happens when I run the CDROM, because I was ripping a bunch of music. I noticed that later on it seemed to cool down a bit. Anyway, something to think about when buying a laptop.
