This past weekend I finished the final volume of Neil Gaiman's The Sandman. Except for the artwork in volume IX, the series was absolutely excellent the entire way through.
The guy at the comic shop mentioned that there are a couple more related items that Gaiman put out, and there are a few spinoffs based on characters from the series.
