I went out to see if there was an OSX driver for my Xerox WorkCentre 390 - nope. Same is true for my Umax Astra 6400 scanner.
That pretty much kills any pipe dreams I had for buying an OSX box this year. No way in hell am I gonna buy new peripherals just so they run on a Mac.
So now I can have a Dual-proc 1.25 GHz Debian PowerPC Linux workstation, and _still_ run Mac OS9 and OSX applications at full processor speed. It's the best of all worlds, as far as I can tell.
But still. It's expensive.

Umax is one of the worst. A lot of companies did not do updated drivers, but Umax was in widespread use by Mac users, and they just abandoned the slightly older hardware on the newer platform. Lost a lot of repeat business, I imagine.
