I may have mentioned that have been tracing my family history. I recently started putting together the Sowman family web page[1]. As a result of this I've been contacted by the most distant[2] relation I've ever known about. If I've counted correctly, we are eighth cousins. That is, our common ancestor is my Great (x7) Grandfather - a man called John Sulman who was born in 1696.
I call that a good start to the week.
[1] It was my mother's maiden name and is a good deal easier to trace than "Cross".
[2] Distant in another way too - he lives in New Zealand.
