I've had some bad luck with YAPC::Europe auctions. Well, what I mean is that on a couple of occasions I've bought "special" items that have taken longer than expected to arrive.
In Amsterdam in 2001, I bought the right to an obfuscated program that BooK would write to my specifications. In 2002 (over IRC as I was in London not Munich) I bought Schwern's services to write a test plan for one of my modules. I asked him write tests for Tie::Hash::Cannabinol (which I believed to be untestable).
Neither of these purchases arrived and I pretty much forgot about them (the money had, after all, gone to a good cause).
Then in Paris last year, during the auction, BooK produced my program. And there was a nicely framed version as well.
And just now I got an email from Schwern containing my test plan. The details of how he did it are here. It looks really impressive.
So the moral is, don't give up waiting. Things sometimes take a bit longer than expected.
I didn't buy any special items in Paris last year tho' :)
