USENET History

It seems that Google have finally put their entire USENET archive online (the one they bought from Deja News). This, of course, leads to hours of endless fun as we all try to track down our earliest postings.

This is the earliest post that I can find by me (I was a bit of a latecomer to the internet) and this seems to be my earliest appearance in a Perl newsgroup.

Memories :)

Latecomer?

1994? Latecomer? You were there for the birth of the Web, man!

Loved your response to the mailbomber... and your sig. ;)

Well, yes, I guess I was around for much of the early history of the web, but considering that I was doing a degree in computing between 84 and 88 I was was seriously late in getting onto the internet.

I remember reading Usenet in my final year of college and I think I even made a couple of posts, but I'm buggered if I can find them now.

I'm reasonably confident that the archive isn't as complete as it'd like to be, as I remember being reasonably vocal in rec.arts.sf-lovers back in 87ish, but things are somewhat skimpy around then. The earliest message of mine I can find is
this. Not exactly enlightening.
