I've just got a couple of emails from the organisers
of the German Perl
Workshop saying that they've accepted my proposals
for talks at
next year's
workshop. The downside of this is that I need to
submit materials suitable for inclusion in the proceedings
by Dec 1st. Guess I know what I'll be working on over the
weekend then!
I'm hoping to give the same or similar talks at other
conferences next year, so here's a quick overview.
- Idiomatic Perl [tutorial]
Larry says it's ok to use "baby-talk" Perl. We promise not
to laugh. But there comes a time when you'll want to start
to write your programs in a more "Perlish" style. This
tutorial will introduce a number of useful Perl idioms
that will make your programs look like they were written
by a guru.
- Idiotic Perl[1]
I've spent a lot of the last year in the land of the
script-kiddie. It's been strange and interesting. In this
talk I plan to report back on my experiences and suggest
ways that we can bridge th gap between us and them.
[1] Not 100% sure of this title. I'm also contemplating
The Crappy Hacker Picture Show.
