Yesterday, someone claiming to be a friend of Matt Wright left a message in one of the nms forums claiming that what we're doing is illegal because we're ripping of Matt's work.
His particular complaint was that we've stolen Matt's README files. Now I'd admit that currently the docs are very largely based on Matt's original READMEs and that this situation is far from perfect and even a little immoral - but illegal? I'm not convinced.
Anyway, I'm planning to replace all the docs over the coming weekend.
But the post got me thinking and I decided that I should email Matt and tell him exactly what's going on with nms. I don't want him thinking that we're going behind his back. So I wrote to him last night, explaining what I'm doing. I even offered to take over support of MSA (which he's obviously too busy to do) by replacing it with nms scripts.
I've emailed him a few times in the past and never got a response. I wonder if this time will be any different.
