Looks like Wrox have just gone bankrupt.
I saw this yesterday too.
I've only got one Wrox book, Michael Kay's XSLT Programmer's Reference, so I can't comment directly on the publisher in general, but I gather other people like their books. So it's a shame if they can't be salvaged as a going concern.
On the book I do have I don't like the format, it's the same height and width of an ORA Nutshell book (153x228mm), but at nearly 1000 pages it's totally unwieldy. The margins are small and neat unlike some publishers, it has nice shaded "thumb tabs", but I'd have to say I prefer OAR's layout.
One less publisher in the field is bad news as a selection of good publishers creates choice and drives innovation. I hope some of the books can be sold onto other publishers, even if the publisher themselves can't be saved.
We have several books from WROX at work. Mostly MS related subject (ASP, MS SQL).
Only one of our books (ASP 3.0) has shaded thumb tabs, which is too bad - I like that feature. For the most part they're not bad - some of them are just too damn long. Decent reference material though.
In the end, I too prefer ORA books.
