I'm back on the "helping beginners" thing.
It started when I read this thread from comp.lang.perl.misc. I don't usually read clpm any more, but someone posted a summary of the thread here. So I leapt into the thread a couple of times; I'm quite pleased with this post which rather neatly sums up my current feelings on beginners Perl/CGI books.
And then I decided to take it a step further. I posted this node on PerlMonks encouraging people to visit a couple of beginners support forums and introduce them to the "real" Perl community.
It seems to have worked. A number of PerlMonks have been over at the two forums I listed dispensing good advice and inviting people over to the Monastery.
As far as I can see, bringing more people into the Perl Community can only be a good thing.
This was a joke!
