Besides I don't consider the above as a stereotypical statement, it's just that "patriotic" doesn't mean "supportive of America" if you're not American. On nihilist days I find that amusing.

The statement -- by saying "Americans" without qualification (I know, obviously not intended to be all or most Americans), added to the comment about dropping dictionaries on US cities (that implies a large number of Americans at the least) -- appeared to me to be on the bad side of stereotypical. By saying "Americans" I meant two American guys engaged in conversation with one another, and with one of them saying it. I think I would have come back in shock if there had been enough of those to make me think a majority thought that
