I eventually managed to fix my Perl install on my win32 box. For some strange reasons which I'm not sure I want to investigate (it's too late now anyway), I managed to get 5.6 to pick 5.8's Time::Piece and vice-versa... of course they were binary incompatible, and crashed. How the two got crossed I don't know. For 24 hours, that box was seriously less usable!
