Well, I finally did it. After years of promising myself that I would kick my Microsoft habit, I did it. It would be honest to say that it was in a fit of pique but I did it all the same. I went for Ubuntu 7.10 (amd64) and I am still getting comfortable in my new computing home. Hopefully, I will not have the "OMG What Have I Done" feeling tomorrow morning.
You'll definitely not have the "OMG What Have I Done" feeling tomorrow morning. I made the switch back in February and have recommended Ubuntu ever since. I had been a Windows user with a Linux curiosity up until then. I would by no means be considered a "Linux guy" in any Linux circle, but I feel fairly comfortable right now. Should you run into a problem, make sure to find a Local Community (LoCo) Team near you.

Thanks for the info! The only problem that I have run into is that the fglrx drivers for my ATI X1300 Pro caused a "black screen of death" and I had to go into the grub menu and back-out my xorg.conf file. Amd64 is not yet supported for the fglrx driver it seems.
