The red flags talk was very interesting. I really liked what Dominus did in that he didn't go as far as he could have. He weighed a good program on the basis of it's conciseness AND it's simplicity. There is always a perfect give and take relationship there, it would seem.
He made the point that beginners usually write more code than they need to. I would take that further and say that experts often write more code than they need to as well, on the oppisite side of the spectrum.
