I was not immediatly interested in the pub crawl after Arecibo. Sure, I paid for it but, I just wasn't sure.
I caught up to Geoff Avery and Dominus and we walked the streets for a while. Geoff had a driving urge to go to a fort so, we set out.
As a result, I got a really great experience out of it. We went to a fort wall and walked though a passage and into a real Puerto Rican villiage. The slums of the island, where everyone really lives. This was cool enough because it was outside the norm, no tourists.
Next, we made our way to a major cemetary, one of the first on the island. It was clearly Catholic, highlighting the belief system of the culture there.
Next we went through a hole in the wall and went right over to the fort. We found a beautiful view there. A wonderful sunset along with a beautiful bay.
is generally very not recommended for those who are white and value their continued life on this planet. Take a local guide next time.
