Nextel is suing Verizon for poor marketing. Verizon says that their new walkie-talkie service runs on the best network available. Nextel says that's wrong, that the obvious choice for best coverage is Nextel. The story. I've used both Nextel and Verizon, though I admit to not using Verizon's walkie-talkie service. That still doesn't matter. They're both wrong. Nextel has the worst coverage I've ever come in contact with. Combine that with poor software and connections for push-to-talk, and you have the most frustrating piece of crap ever posing for a communication device. Verizon's CDMA network is the best in the US, as far as I can tell. However, the walkie-talkie service runs on the 1x data system using VoIP. Therefore, it does not run on the best network, just the digital parts of that network. The analog parts of the network are left out in the cold. So they are both wrong. Even so, I hope Verizon puts Nextel out of business, they are horrible. That was the worst communication year of my life.
