That's what my sony picturebook gave me instead of a boot sequence this morning. What gives? Hardware failure. A feeble, frail laptop at the end of its pitiful rope. So what did I do? With the help of some friends, I wrangled together a plan to buy a powerbook. With the proper planning, I got in a cab and went to MacForce, while the cab waited I ordered a 12" powerbook with combo drive, an airport card, and 512MB memory upgrade. 15 minutes later I was back in the cab and on my way to the conference. I don't have time to put up with crappy old hardware, especially not here. Now I just have to move into this computer, even though the network is down.
