I'd just like to know why on Earth Microsoft sends a copy of Visual Studio to a company with a logo that clearly reads "Open Source Consulting."
In the letter accompanying the CD they explain how to buy their licenses with discount.
Spam by snail mail, what can I say?
They have money to burn. They heavily advertise in "GNU/Linux User and Developer", a UK open source magazine. It's quite amusing to see the Microsoft advert next to an article openly hostile to them.
Spamming aside, could it be that they assume you don't neccessarily require a completely open source stack? I mean, there's no reason you can't develop GPLed software in Visual Studio (not that it would neccessarily be a good idea), right?
Of course, this could have been from the same person at Microsoft who tried to hire Eric S. Raymond.
