How's your memory?

For some weird reason, whenever possible, I try to keep in mind the number of people on the bus.

Keeping up with it is not plain simple, it still takes some concentration/memory.

Let's see how your memory is. Rules are: no paper, no pen, no calculator, no nothing.

Let's go.

I get into the bus, there's 17 people on it.

Bus stops. 1 people get in, 0 people get out.

Bus stops. 2 people get in, 0 people get out.

Bus stops. 3 people get in, 4 people get out.

Bus stops. 3 people get in, 4 people get out.

Bus stops. 2 people get in, 1 people get out.

Bus stops. 4 people get in, 0 people get out.

Bus stops. 1 people get in, 4 people get out.

Bus stops. 1 people get in, 5 people get out.

Bus stops. 4 people get in, 0 people get out.

Bus stops. 1 people get in, 1 people get out.

Bus stops. 3 people get in, 5 people get out.

Bus stops. 4 people get in, 5 people get out.

Bus stops. 2 people get in, 2 people get out.

Bus stops. 3 people get in, 3 people get out.

Bus stops. 2 people get in, 3 people get out.

Bus stops. 3 people get in, 5 people get out.

Bus stops. I get out.

OK, then... so how many times did the bus stop?

Old riddle ;)

You mean, after you got on and before you got off?

I say

18. The bus stopped for you to get on and for you to get off. There are 16 stops between those 2 events.

Unless I miscounted (it's been a long day).
