Plans for Canada

Here are my plans for YAPC::NA::2005

And there's some other things, some of which make me very happy but I still can't talk about :-)

I'm trying to think of this all as vacations rather than going to a conference, mainly because I'm going to be spending a lot of money and I really don't feel confortable about that :-)

But, of course, these are all one-time-oportunities (well, perhaps not the movie thing, unless we count the fact it will be the third continent I see a movie in).

And here's my current to do list:

* Talks submitted ................................ check
* Talks accepted ................................. check
* Registered for the conference .................. check
* Flight booked .................................. check
* Hotel room booked .............................. check
* Slides for first talk .......................... 30%
* Slides for second talk ......................... 60%
* Write something for the proceedings ............ 40%
* See if my phone works in Canada ................ not done
* Arrange for travels between hotel and airport .. not done

I'm looking forward to all this :-)

Canadian vs American Football

modred on 2005-06-16T11:40:37

25 - Toronto Argonauts vs. BC Lions (that's right, I'm going to see an American Football game)

Well, not quite. While, Canadian football is similar to American football they really are different games. IIRC, the Canadian football field is larger, can have more motion before the play starts, defensive players have to line up at least one yard away, and three downs instead of four. See http://www.football.com/rulesdiff/index.shtml for more details.

Well, the wiki says '(This is "American football", not "soccer".)'

As for the link you provided, thanks! :-)
