I've decided to write a new article entitled Lies Open Source Developers Tell Ourselves. Here's a brief list of untruthy topics: feature freezes, competing projects, popularity, packaging, documentation, frameworks, rewrites, and code quality.
As usual, I suspect the really smart kids already know these things and the open source groupies (pro- and con-) who never write code yet feel the need to bloviate anyway will complain. That leaves an audience of thoughtful people who may never say anything but will think about it. I like them.
