More Polemic

I've decided to write a new article entitled Lies Open Source Developers Tell Ourselves. Here's a brief list of untruthy topics: feature freezes, competing projects, popularity, packaging, documentation, frameworks, rewrites, and code quality.

As usual, I suspect the really smart kids already know these things and the open source groupies (pro- and con-) who never write code yet feel the need to bloviate anyway will complain. That leaves an audience of thoughtful people who may never say anything but will think about it. I like them.

actually...

The kids on /. are just stupid kids, some of whom troll for thrills when they can't afford movies and beer or, more likely, just don't have any friends. However, smart people can be dumb as rocks when ego and pride reign supreme as they do in a lot of places. A guy doesn't have to be a blathering /. idiot to allow hubris and a firm belief in their own brilliance to make them as stupid as the kids on /. ...they just function a little differently. On the internet, everyone is about 12 years old.

You also claim never to write bugs. :)
