Well, the offending file is gone (apparently Exchange server can indeed delete the file even though 8.3 filenames won't. Thanks for the help, though.)
Now the real fun begins -- simple report generation, which should be easy, and then possibly a tracking system.
Did I mention Les wants me to see if we can set up a rudimentary Linux server? :D
