I am currently about 2400 words from my 50000 word goal.

My reactions, in no particular order...

  • relief at nearly being done
  • paranoid urgency because I'm not finished yet
  • staggering amazement at writing the longest thing I've ever written
  • sadness because the next novel is eleven months away
  • resolve because NaNoWriMo has become automatic, like eating or sleeping ("Yup, November's coming up, time to clear my schedule and work out a plot...")

That's fantastic. I wish I'd started at the beginning of November (or heard about it earlier).

I've just finished chapter 3 of 10, for 21,000 words. (It sounds like slacking, but I've only spent maybe 12 or 13 days working on it.)

There's always next year's novel. Don't sweat it.

I felt underprepared the first year because I heard about it a week or so before November 1st. Little did I realize there were people signing up right up to the last week...!

It's really nice to remember how much I like writing. Hopefully this will be my reintroduction to regular practice. (Last year didn't take, but I didn't finish last year, either.)
