Right now I'm banging my head on this, because I'm too damn superstitious to go back and work on AI::Fuzzy::Simple or whatever the hell I'm going to try to call this monstrosity.

Any suggestions for how to throw yourself back at something most effectively when you've been away from it for a while are gladly accepted.

I have a project I've been working on for a while that I've had to put down a few times due to various factors. It can be hard picking up the strands after time away, but the first thing I try to attack is the test suite - you can always improve it. When you know you have a solid test suite then it gives you the confidence you need to go poking around bits that perhaps aren't so fresh in your memory.

The other area is documentation. You're going to have to write it some time. Start now. You don't have to get it perfect first time and it's easier to improve something incrementally than do it all from scratch. Once you start describing all the cool stuff your project can do then you'll be itching to get back into it.
