Being more serious for a moment (I'll ignore the Peanut gallery chanting about lost causes), it appears that I've been unfairly maligning Bill Gates for years. As have many other people. I'd be interested if anyone has anything definitive on the topic. I can find that claim repeated in lots of places. But you can find lots of places that'll claim that Columbus was warned about sailing off of the edge of the Earth. Just because something is widely believed doesn't mean that it is true.
And for me, half the fun of knowing something odd is knowing that there are lots of people who're wrong about it.
