Apple is a very secretive company, and one of my very secretive relations not only got me a really good price on a new Powerbook a month ago, but for Christmas he got me the AppleCare plan to go with it. The card the Plan came with says I ccan register on the web, but I stopped trying after 20 minutes of trying to cajole Apple's website to do the right thing. And, apparently, the new Plans are international---as long as I can find an Apple dealer nearby. I wonder if there is one in Dubai just in case I ever end up around there. There must be one in South Korea, in case I end up there, too.
The news in the paper I read this morning says Microsoft has to distribute Java. Too bad they do not have to distribute Perl---ba, ActivePerl installs easy enough even if it is not easy to find on their website.
