Internet Explorer cookies bummer

After my module news, Sean Burke sent me a module that someone sent him that deals with Internet Explorer cookies on Windows.

On Windows, IE apparently stores each cookie in its own file, although the location of the directory for these cookies is in the Registry.

On Mac OS X, the platform I personally care about, IE is more tricky. It gets to store its cookies in an Apple file (~/Library/Preferences/com.apple.internetconfig.plist) and it took me a while to find it. The cookies are in a "data" section, which, in the Apple plist format, is Base-64 encoded.

Along the way, I had to slog through several unproductive Google searches that led me to all sorts of vitriol directed towards Microsoft for it s integrated browser-operating-system stuff and I felt a little superior because I do not use Windows. Now I get a little taste of it on the Mac.
