You can never have too many Camels or Rams. Buy a Learning Perl for a loved one and not only do you make your shopping list a bit shorter, but Randal gets 3 cents.
After thinking about it a bit, I realized that the Amazon.com Web Services license lets me show their data if I link back to the product. I programatically searched for the keyword "Perl" and pulled out the top ranked Perl books.
- Amazon sales rank: Title
- 817: Programming Perl (3rd Edition)
- 1,537: Learning Perl, Third Edition
- 1,852: Perl and CGI for the World Wide Web: Visual QuickStart Guide
- 3,434: The Cgi/Perl Cookbook
- 4,710: Programming the Perl DBI
- 5,413: Perl for Oracle DBAs
- 5,505: Perl and CGI for the World Wide Web: Visual QuickStart Guide (2nd Edition)
- 6,972: Perl Cookbook
- 7,251: Mastering Regular Expressions, Second Edition
- 7,959: The Perl Cd Bookshelf: 6 Bestselling Books on Cd-Rom
These results are different than the results I got yesterday. I think there is some voodoo in the sales ranking. I do not see how the
Perl Cookbook should rank so poorly, especially against
Perl for Oracle DBAs.
Curiously, searching for "Perl" returns more search results for "Javascript" than "Perl".
