The latest email from O'Reilly inviting me to attend OSCON (even though I'm already registered) is really odd. It's meaningless marketing stuff that's just plain wrong.
The mail is titled "Ten Things You'll Experience Only at OSCON 2006".
Out of those top ten things, 7 of them were at YAPC Chicago (about 400ish attendees), and most of them are at most YAPCs. These are the actual things that O'Reilly claims you can only experience at OSCON 2006. I haven't changed the headings:
1) Sessions
2) Tutorials
3) Keynote Presentations
4) Speakers
6) Sponsors and Exhibitors
7) Events
10) People
5) O'Reilly Radar: The Executive Briefing
8) OSCamp
9) The O'Reilly Booth in the Exhibit Hall
... if that were all the message said. I don't remember seeing R0ml or Asterisk or TiVo or Powell's at YAPC::NA, for example.
