Not Just Another Perl Hacker (NJAPH)

Best Practical is sponsoring a new set of awards in the Perl community: the NJAPHs (Not Just Another Perl Hacker). Those are the crazy people who do all that whiz-bang techy stuff with Perl. Now we'll have awards for both community and technical acheivement.

I don't have more details at the moment, but last I heard they'll be awarded at OSCON and voting will happen through an electoral-college-like system through the Perl Mongers groups. I didn't get to stick around YAPC for the announcement, so this is just the stuff Jesse told me in the hallway.

So, some slight updates and corrections.

Nominations are open now. Send email to: njaph@bestpractical.com to nominate recipients for "Best serious use of / hacking on perl in the past year" and "Scariest use of perl in the past year. (If it uses source filters, it probably qualifies).

At OSCON, we'll announce the top 10 or so nominations for each category and get proper voting instructions out there. Awards will be presented at YAPC.EU. Expect a proper web page and a use.perl article soon.
