Several recent journal entries here lament the trouble to find decent Perl people for hire. I find that a bit hard to believe, as over the last several years, I have never seen a job offer for a Perl job, for the whole of Dutch speaking Belgium. So naturally, I don't do a Perl job.
I assume that I am at least decently qualified, so people make me believe. And yet I don't think I'm the best Perl Hacker in this part of the world. So I cannot realy believe in unfillable vacancies.
Are Perl jobs that much regionally localized?
Region, no...

I suspect that most perl jobs aren't necessarily regionally localised as much as they are "capital city" localised. And by "capital" I generally mean financial capitals such as New York and Silicon Valley.

There's no "Belgium" in that list. QED.
Perl Jobs?
Unfortunatly for me the only pure Perl job I ever had was as a consultant. I guess I was there to fill a gap in the line untill their own inhouse staff could take over and once that was accomplished I was out the door.
Most other Perl only jobs that I've seen paid a fraction of what I get paid normally so I've steered clear of them. Sad but true.
