Had a bumper bundle of books delivered from a couple of publishers yesterday. The allocated reviewers are going to be pleased :)
I'm down to do "Perl & LWP", which I'm looking forward to. One of the things about looking through all the PODs is that it can quickly drown you in confusion as to which is the best module/function to use for the job. I'm hoping Sean's book can clear up some of that, and provide a bit of direction to solving some obvious ideas.
I had an app that did some nice stuff for me with a particular website. Unfortunately the website changed it's format and the author has since given up the ghost. Also the website now provides it's info for a few different countries, so I thought it might be nice to write a suite of modules that do some screen scraping and can cope with the different languages etc. I can then learn GTk and bolt on a frontend for people to use if they so wish too.
Like many of my great ideas, it all comes down to having the time to do them. I usually get there eventually though :)
