Thought I'd dig out my old ICQ number and resurrect it today. It's been at least 18 months since I left tw2, which was when it was last activated, and was surprised to find myself still in the database!
So having updated all my persoanl bits, I thought I search to see if there were any people in Birmingham (UK) that were into Perl. My intention was then to send them a little message to welcome them to the next Birmingham Perl Mongers social meetings, although I guess that could be construed as spam. Unfortunately ICQ doesn't have a very good search engine so I ended up having to search for "Perl UK" and there are tons of people. I think this might be a weekend job.
However it did intrigue me to find so many Perl people on ICQ, yet the majority or major corporates seem to turning their back on it in favour of Java and ASP. Then again if I could be bothered to search "Java UK" or "ASP UK" I would probably find just as many, and would most likely include some of the crossovers from the other searches.
