QA Hackathon - Recommended Hotel Update

barbie on 2009-02-21T11:06:31

We are pleased to have finally arranged details of the attendees hotel. As with YAPC::Europe in 2006, we will be staying at The Jury's Inn. This is just a short walk from the QA Hackathon venue, The City Inn, and within easy reach of New Street station.

For those attendees who have already registered their interest on the website, we have already contacted and reserved rooms on their behalf. If you have not receieved an email from us, please get in touch as soon as possible, and we will arrange to extend the room reservations.

For those who have been waiting to hear of our hotel plans before considering whether to attend the QA Hackathon, please contact us and we will provide details of costs for you, and reserve rooms once you confirm your attendance.

We currently have 19 confirmed attendees, and are endeavouring to aquire sponsorship for at least one other international attendee. We still have room for others, so if you have an interest in any of the QA projects and feel you can help in any way, please add yourself to the Attendees page on the wiki.

We are currently putting together a pictorial directions guide, which will be available online for anyone unfamiliar with Birmingham City Centre, to help you locate where to go, both from the airport arrivals and New Street station.

As always, many thanks to our sponsors, Birmingham Perl Mongers, $foo magazin and Nestoria, and also to Booking.com and PROCURA B.V. for funding their employees to attend the event.

If you have any further questions, please email us at organisers@qa-hackathon.org.

More news coming soon.

Hotel websites

I never cease to be amazed at how crappy hotel websites can be, but the City Inn site is Special. It doesn't appear to have their address on it. There's a map showing the main streets (but not *all* the streets), and there's "turn left, take the second right, go past three sets of traffic lights" style directions - but NO POSTCODE OR ADDRESS THAT SOMEONE COULD PUT INTO THEIR GPS THINGY.

Impressive.

Perhaps the QA hackathon should be dedicated to fixing their website for them :-)

Don't worry the pictorial guide will have all that sort of info and more :)

I'm not worried, cos I know exactly where it is, from going boozing there during your wonderful YAPC :-)
