Recently a manager at ML handed in their resignation. It's meant a reshuffle of the management team within development, and the result has been that I am now in charge of Critical Problem Resolution and Defect Management. A bit of a long winded title, but basically it means I'm responsible for the team that is called out if anything goes wrong. It also means I am better placed to ensure that tests are provided with code to ensure that my team isn't called out when it goes live.
There have been no callouts this year and I think there were only 3 last year. We are pushing quality quite hard now, with test driven development, unit tests and code reviews becoming second nature. My predecessor and his team have done a sterling job of establishing the team, it's made my life a lot easier taking the role on.
