Chris Date has written an excellent paper of clarifying and naming different types of relationships between sets. Typically, folks use sloppy terms like "one-to-one" or "one-to-many", but those terms lack enough detail to actually define the relationship.
The paper is All for One, One for All. I know there's some other Perl data/relational nerds out there who will like this.
