How to wankishly irritate module authors ...

Note to all readers: when people send me bug reports I generally respond quite quickly. If the report is accurate, I've been known to release new versions of modules to CPAN in under an hour, I kid you not.

However, posting sort-of bug reports (sans code, sans "here's the error or bad output I got") in a whiny journal entry is remarkably ineffective at getting things fixed.

does you no favours. I sent a bug report BEFORE I wrote in my journal. I happened to be extremely annoyed that without any fault of mine I was getting error reports. I now have to write a work around that I didn't want to do.

It is not without any fault of yours. It is a 0.x module, the author is still busy rearranging things so that the 1.0 has a correct API that gives correct output. It is your burden to watch out for changes and adjust your code if you wish to use these preliminary releases.
